HANG GLIDING WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS 2009

Disappointing team performance for the Brits, finishing seventh, after our success two years ago. Our national pride was saved by a terrific performance by Gordon, coming 5th. He certainly justified his last minute selection!

I didn't do too well in the first two tasks but then got a bit better. The team worked very well together but we were simply outclassed - I think we only got a pilot in the first ten on two days. We could have all come level fifth individually and still only come 4th in the team - the other teams flew superbly. I do believe each task was won by a different pilot from a different nation which is something I never saw before, and Alex won without winning a task which hasn't happened for a while. The Italians I think had all three team scores in the first ten every day!
